A full life story on Guru Nanak Dev Ji
Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born on April 15, 1469, in Talwandi, a village in the Punjab region of present-day Pakistan. His parents, Mehta Kalu and Mata Tripta, were Hindus, but Guru Nanak Dev Ji was a spiritual seeker from a young age.
As a child, Guru Nanak Dev Ji demonstrated a deep spiritual awareness and love for God.
He refused to wear the sacred Hindu thread, which was a symbol of caste, and preferred to spend his time in meditation and contemplation.
In his early adulthood, Guru Nanak Dev Ji worked as a trader and traveled widely across India, Central Asia, and the Middle East. During his travels, he observed the suffering and injustice in the world and felt a deep sense of compassion for all living beings.
At the age of 30, Guru Nanak Dev Ji had a profound spiritual experience that changed the course of his life. He went into a river and disappeared for three days. When he emerged, he declared, "There is no Hindu, no Muslim." This experience marked the beginning of his spiritual mission.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent the rest of his life traveling and teaching, sharing his message of love, equality, and social justice. He believed that all people were equal in the eyes of God and that true spiritual liberation could be achieved by serving others and living a virtuous life.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji founded the Sikh faith, which emphasizes the importance of devotion to God, living a righteous life, and serving humanity. He composed many hymns and poems, which were later compiled into the Sikh holy book, the Guru Granth Sahib.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji was also an advocate for social justice and equality. He spoke out against the caste system, gender discrimination, and other forms of oppression. He taught that all people were created equal and that everyone had the potential to achieve spiritual enlightenment.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji passed away on September 22, 1539, at the age of 70. His teachings and legacy continue to inspire millions of people around the world, and his life story remains a testament to the power of love, compassion, and service to others.
